Alabama state university

Introduction

Alabama State University was founded in 1867 as the Lincoln Normal School of Marion in Marion. In December 1873, the State Board accepted the transfer of title to the school after a legislative act was passed authorizing the state to fund a Normal School, and George N. Card was named president. Thus, in 1874, this predecessor of Alabama State University became America's first state-supported educational institution for blacks. This began ASU's history as a "teachers' college./p>

The second president, William Burns Paterson, was appointed in 1878. He is honored as a founder of Alabama State University and was the president for 37 of the school's first 48 years. Paterson was instrumental in the move from Marion to Montgomery in 1887.

In 1887, the university opened in its new location in Montgomery, but an Alabama State Supreme Court ruling forced the school to change its name; it was renamed the Normal School for Colored Students. The campus was chosen in 1889 although preparing the buildings at the site took a while longer.

University distance from Hostel: - One hostel is located inside the university campus and the other 4 are located near the university campus. There is a walking distance of 5 mins between the hostel and the university campus. Room occupancy info: - The hostels are available in only four sharing occupancies in rooms. Students can choose one of them based on their needs, requirement, budget, and availability.

Basic Amenities: - All the rooms are well-furnished and centrally air-conditioned with all the necessary amenities like a bed, bed sheets, mattress, study table, wardrobes, etc. Moreover, there is a common study room is there in every hostel.

Laundry room info: - Each floor of every hostel is having a common laundry room that can be used by every student of that hostel. Kitchen info: - Each floor of every hostel is having two common kitchens which can be used by every student of that particular floor. Kitchens are shared with 2-3 electric burners, and a microwave, where students can cook their meals whenever they want to do.

Washroom and Toilet info: - There is two washrooms in every floor of each hostel.

Boy and Girl Division info: - Boys and girls hostels are separate. Security info: - All the hostels are very safe and secure as they have security cameras in every hostel for student safety. Security staff is always there for the security of the students.

Indian Mess availability info: - Indian food is available in the mess of the hostel.

Gym info: - The university has a gym in the campus with modern machines and tools like dumbbells, treadmill, etc.

Student Life

In order to make students' lives more interesting there are all conditions in the institute to conduct cultural measures. Institutions organize different festivals, tours, games and encourage students to take part in different study and sports competitions. For students' accommodation there are such conditions as hostel and separate comfortable rooms with all the conditions. Indian mess faculty is present in the hostel.
